Yasith (Yaz) Yakandawela

Overview

A local Port Moody resident, Yaz is in the civil litigation practice with a focus on family and immigration law. Yaz joined the firm in 2024 after successfully completing his articles at Legal Aid BC. Yaz has successfully conducted hearings in the Provincial and Supreme courts of British Columbia and is eager to serve his local community. Yaz values collaborative conflict resolution whilst protecting and fighting for his client’s best interests.

Away from the Office

On his down time, Yaz enjoys tinkering on his car, and playing Tennis and Soccer, often at Trasolini Field in Port Moody. Yaz also values the time he spends with his family, and his cat, Cheeto.

Jillian Foster

Overview

Jillian practices civil litigation with a focus on family law, and employment. Jillian joined Alder Law in 2020 after successfully completing her articles with our firm. Prior to doing so, she practiced as a paralegal specializing in injury claims. Jillian is dedicated to providing compassionate, practical solutions for her clients and ensuring their rights and interests are protected.

Jillian is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, The Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Away From The Office

Outside of work Jillian enjoys exploring new hiking trails, paddleboarding, yoga and spending time with friends and family.

D. Todd Brown

About Todd

A trial lawyer for more than 20 years, Todd brings significant experience to his personal injury law practice. He has represented injured clients before the Supreme Court of BC and the Court of Appeal, and as a lawyer in both jury and “judge alone” trials. Todd is keen to ensure that clients receive the compensation they deserve — his efforts have resulted in some of the highest awards in British Columbia.

Todd currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Trial Lawyers’ Association of British Columbia, and is a past member of their Executive Committee. He frequently speaks at continuing legal education seminars and conferences for trial lawyers, and has published several papers and articles on various aspects of trial law with a particular emphasis on jury trials.

Away From The Office

When he is not being a lawyer, Todd looks forward to spending time with his family – including the four legged member(s) – and doing things that lawyers tend to do when they are not being lawyers such as reading (not law), swimming, biking and running.

Michael J. Holroyd

Overview

Mike has over 15 years of experience as a trial lawyer. He has successfully conducted numerous trials in both the Provincial and Supreme Court before both judges and juries. He has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients.

Memberships/Professional Affiliations

Mike has previously served as an executive director for the Trial Lawyers Association, and as a legal instructor with the Vancouver Community College. Mike currently acts as a director for the New View Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community mental health with a focus on offering support and creating opportunities for people with challenged with mental illness. He is also a current member of the BC Law Society, the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, and the Canadian Bar Association.

Away From The Office

In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and three young daughters, running, mountain biking, and playing and watching hockey.
